The University of Alberta, abbreviated U of A or UAlberta, is a public research university in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Alexander Cameron Rutherford, Alberta's first premier, and Henry Marshall Tory, the university's first president, founded it in 1908. The university is classified as a "comprehensive academic and research university" (CARU), which indicates that it provides a wide range of academic and professional programs leading to undergraduate and graduate-level credentials. It is worth noting that the University of Alberta acceptance rate stands at 58% making it a competitive university to get into. 

 

The university has five campuses, including the flagship North Campus, which spans around 50 city blocks and is located on one of the four campuses in Edmonton. Facilities

The Van Vliet Complex, named after the faculty's first dean, Dr Maury Van Vliet, houses North Campus University of Alberta facilities. From 1945 to 1978, Dr Van Vliet worked at the institution as a teacher, coach, and administrator. Physical Activity & Wellness Center, Hanson Fitness & Lifestyle Center, Universiade Pavilion, Wilson Climbing Center, Clare Drake Arena, main gym, meeting rooms, gymnasiums, multipurpose rooms, dance studios, lecture theatres, and classrooms are just a few of the facilities available on North Campus.

 

Just a few minutes to the south of the North Campus is the University of Alberta South Campus. Foote Field and the Saville Community Sports Center are two facilities on the South Campus that belong to the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation (East and West). Foote Field has a conference room, track, competition-level artificial turf, a grass field, a multi-use plaza, and a lounge area. Tennis courts, a High-Performance Training and Research Centre, a fitness centre, and different multipurpose rooms are included in the East amenities. University of Alberta Entry Requirements
