Overview
About
Bishop John Strachan created Trinity College (also known as TC or Trinity) in 1851. It is a college that is affiliated with the University of Toronto. After the University of Toronto abandoned its affiliations with the Church of England, Strachan initially planned TC to be a university with a strong Anglican orientation. After operating independently for 50 years, the university became a part of the University's collegiate federation in 1904.
Trinity College’s acceptance rate is 36% which makes it quite selective with its admission process. The university has around 1,900+ students enrolled in undergraduate and postgraduate programs. A postgraduate divinity school that is a part of the Toronto School of Theology and a secular undergraduate division makes up the university today. The university maintains its standing as a legitimate university by virtue of its power to award degrees in the discipline of divinity. International relations, ethics, society and law, and immunology are three of the undergraduate programs offered by the University of Toronto Faculty of Arts and Sciences at the university.
At the University of Toronto, more than half of TC's students receive a distinction or high distinction. As of 2020, the college had produced 43 Rhodes Scholars, which is a very high amount for a university of its size. As the least populous of the University of Toronto's colleges, Trinity is noteworthy for its ties to Oxbridge heritage and for hosting weekly formal dinners, upholding the custom of academic gowns, managing its student government through direct democracy, and housing a variety of clubs and societies.

Facilities
With numerous college events held each week, TC has a vibrant student life. Students at the university maintain a wide variety of clubs and organizations and participate in a number of traditions. Literary Institute: The Trinity College Literary Institute is a humorous debate group with weekly sessions, sometimes known as "The Lit." The Lit officially predates the university because it is the successor organization to the Debating Society of the Diocesan Theological Institute. The Queen's Debating Union disputes The Lit's claim that it is Canada's oldest debate organization.
Student Publications: The Salterrae (Latin for The Salt of the Earth) magazine was first published by the university’s students in 1981 as Trinlight. Stephanos is the name of the calendar. The TC Review, which was initially published in 1880 as Rouge et Noir, is another bi-annual journal that features student short stories, images, and poetry. The Review used to publish student writings, some of which dealt with divisive college issues including federalism and the treatment of female students.
Student Government: The Trinity College Meeting (TCM), a direct democracy body in which all students have equal status, is the supreme student government authority at Trinity (conditional on the wearing of gowns at meetings). Major policy decisions and the distribution of student finances are directly governed by the TCM, which also organizes a number of committees to provide suggestions on many facets of student life. Following yearly elections, the TCM assigns six student Heads responsibility for daily operations.
Dramatics: Since its founding in 1919, the TC Dramatic Society (TCDS) has staged at least one full-length production every year. The TCDS committee, which is elected by the College, has recently produced four productions per season, including a spring musical. When the university's George Ignatieff Theatre (GIT) was built in 1979, the TCDS stopped using Hart House as a performance space.
