Thompson Rivers University - Williams Lake Campus (also known as TRU or TRU Williams Lake) is a public teaching and research institution that grants undergraduate, graduate, and professional degrees. Its name is derived from the North Thompson and South Thompson rivers, which meet in Kamloops, British Columbia. The university features a branch for online learning called Open Learning and it also collaborates with a number of foreign entities through the World Division. Thompson Rivers University - Williams Lake Campus’ acceptance rate is 82% and every programme the university provides is held in small class sizes where students can get individualised attention and hands-on learning opportunities. The Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) has granted associate, baccalaureate, and Master's degree accreditation to the university.

 

TRU offers about 60 online or distance learning programmes through the Open Learning division in addition to its 140 on-campus programmes in trades apprenticeships, vocational certificates and Diplomas, Bachelor's and Master's degrees, and law. The Williams Lake campus of the university is situated on T'exelcemc territory inside the unceded traditional territories of the Secwepemc Nation, about three hours northwest of Kamloops, in the picturesque Cariboo region.
