Thompson Rivers University (also known as TRU) is a public teaching and research institution that grants undergraduate, graduate, and professional degrees. Its name is derived from the North Thompson and South Thompson rivers, which meet in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada, where its main campus is located. The university features a branch for online learning called TRU-Open Learning as well as a satellite campus in Williams Lake, British Columbia. Through the TRU World branch at the university, it also collaborates with a number of foreign entities. At the associate, baccalaureate, and Master's degree levels, the university has received accreditation from the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU).

TRU is divided into two campuses; the Kamloops campus that serves as the institution's main campus. The Den: It is the university’s only legally operating restaurant. The Den is open Monday through Friday from breakfast to late night from September to April.
