Overview

About

The Polytechnic School of Montreal is a public college, which was founded in 1873. The school has developed a vast clientele base through its strong ties with the business community. Since its inception, it has been educating students for careers in a wide variety of fields such as commerce, technology, and engineering. It offers an acceptance rate of 45% which is considered mildly selective.

The engineering university is located in Montreal which is the cultural and economic centre of Quebec. It is one of the most multicultural cities in Canada, with more than 300 languages spoken within its borders. It was America's first French engineering school. The School of Sciences Applied to Arts and Industry was established in 1873 to address the demands of the industrial revolution. In January 1874, there were seven students present for the inaugural class. Three years later, the establishment was granted official recognition by the provincial government, at which point it was given the name École Polytechnique de Montréal.

The emblem of the school is a bee inscribed in a cogwheel with wreaths. It gives us a deeper description of the working of an engineer and how he ought to be ethical. The motto 'Ut tensio sic vis', which is derived from Hooke's law on material resistance, is displayed alongside the logo. The elongation is proportionate to the force according to the technical translation.

While some students may have the opportunity to make use of scholarships, not all students cut the eligibility to get a scholarship or a grant. Moreover, not all scholarships cover 100% of your study abroad expenses. At such times, most students resort to acquiring education loans to avoid the financial hassles associated with studying at the university.
