About

Mount Royal University (MRU) has carved out a unique niche in the education system by providing lower class sizes, a strong liberal arts education, and distinctive undergraduate programs. The university was established in 1910 and is situated in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, developed into a thriving college in the 1930s before becoming a mid-sized university with a stronger emphasis on bachelor degrees in 2009.

Facilities

MRU formally inaugurated the Riddell Library and Learning Centre in 2017, which had previously opened in 1972. The Calgary businessman Clay Riddell, who made a sizable donation to the project, is honored by having his name attached to the Riddell Library. More than 16,000 square meters, 34 study rooms, 1,700 seats, access to 3D printing, and even a cafe are included in the facility. 

 

The Cougars is MRU’s sports moniker. They moved to the Canada West conference of Canadian Interuniversity Sport for the 2012-2013 season, advancing to the highest level of amateur athletics in Canada (since re-named U Sports). Eight teams competing in men's and women's basketball, hockey, soccer, and volleyball are supported by the university. Admission

Mount Royal University Entry Requirements

ApplyAlberta is the online application portal for students who plan on applying to MRU and an application fee of CAD 100 is charged. Students must select a program and look over the admission requirements to start the application process. Applying for admissions should be done as soon as you are certain about the program and have all the required paperwork on hand. Below is a list of Mount Royal University entry requirements to keep ready before applying -

General Requirements:

  • High School: To be admitted, high school candidates must have completed five courses at the Grade 12 level. Candidates must demonstrate their knowledge of the subjects needed for their preferred program of choice in these five courses. A student’s program’s unique course requirements count toward their Group A course requirements. The following courses from Group A, B, or C may be presented as an additional subject for admission.
  • Post-Secondary: Students need to have a minimum GPA to be eligible for admission. Post-secondary applicants are often expected to have atleast 2.0 Grade Point Average, unless a specified (higher) GPA has been indicated for their school of choice. Some programs demand a GPA of 2.5 or above.
  • Mature: Admission requirements for mature applicants include at least two courses at the Grade 12 level. Depending on the precise high school courses needed for the degree they chose, more than two can be necessary. 

English Language Requirements: 

  • IELTS: Score of 6.5 with a minimum of 5.5 on each band
  • TOEFL: Score of 86 with a minimum of 20 on each of the four sections
  • PTE: Score of 58 with a minimum score of 55 in each area 
  • CAEL: Score of 70 with a minimum of 60 in each band

 

Mount Royal University Fees

Every semester that they are enrolled, MRU students are responsible for paying tuition and other compulsory expenses. A student’s tuition and fees for the upcoming autumn semester are due around the middle of August or at the beginning of September, depending on when they sign up for classes.
