About

The Memorial University of Newfoundland is one of the major institutions in Atlantic Canada. It was founded in 1925 as Memorial University College (MUC) as a legacy to the Newfoundlanders who died in World War I. Memorial University, as it is popularly referred to, is Newfoundland and Labrador's sole university with a special obligation to the residents of the province. MUN brings together over 19,000 students from 115 countries to discover. A worldwide network of almost 100,000 successful alumni boosts the university's capabilities and reputation for leadership in research, teaching, and public engagement.
