About

Founded in 1663, Laval University is one of Canada’s oldest universities. The school itself was named after Jean-François Laval (1623-1708), who was a French missionary and the first Bishop of Quebec. The University is located in Quebec City, which has been home to French settlers since the early 17th century. The majority of students at this school are from outside Quebec—in fact, international students make up about 70 per cent of its student body!

Laval University is the largest French-language university in Canada. It has about 48,000 students and more than 3,800 faculty members. The main campus is located in the heart of downtown Quebec City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that’s known for its old-world charm, rich history, and charming restaurants and cafes.

The university campus provides excellent living and learning conditions. Our North American-style campus, with its buildings, natural areas, and a large network of foot and bicycle lanes, is simple to go around and access. Admission

Laval University Entry Requirements

Laval University's admissions process is quite competitive. With a few English references, the schooling is mostly conducted in French.
