About

Located in London, Ontario, Canada, Huron University College is a public university that is connected to the University of Western Ontario. Huron is the founding organization of the University of Western Ontario and was formed on May 5, 1863. The University of Western Ontario's earliest affiliated institution was founded in 1863 by two Anglican pastors. There is an Anglican seminary in Huron and the university is a founding institution of the bigger university which was founded 15 years before the University of Western Ontario. Huron College transformed its theological foundations into a contemporary liberal arts university in the second part of the 20th century and it became well-known throughout the country.

 

Among some of the top universities in Canada, Huron University College’s acceptance rate is one of the highest. Around 2,000 undergraduate and graduate students from all over the world are enrolled at the university. The university provides courses in the social sciences, business, and theology in addition to the arts. Western University confers degrees to Huron College. Students may even finish a major at Western since they are permitted to take up to 40% of their courses there. They also have the option to work with the Ivey School of Business to get a dual degree. Additionally, Huron College has partnered with Harvard Business School so that students can obtain a Credential of Readiness online (HBX CORe). Many students are enrolled in the Master of Divinity and Master of Theological Studies programs offered by the Faculty of Theology. Ingrid Mattson, the chair of Islamic Studies, is on the faculty.

Facilities

Huron is where you will live, learn, and create enduring connections as a leader with a heart. The Registrar's Office, Student Support Services, Housing, and Student Life are all located in the West Wing of Huron's main floor, directly beneath the Kingsmill Room. Campus Property: Its original location, Rough Park, was in London, Ontario, on the block surrounded by Grosvenor, St. George, and St. James Streets. Huron relocated to its current location in 1951, within a short distance from Western Ontario University. Huron is situated across from the heart of the University of Western Ontario Main Campus, on the western side of Western Road. Weldon Library and the University Community Centre (UCC) are both close by. The Silcox Memorial Library, the Great Hall, and the Chapel of St. John the Evangelist are all located in the administrative wing. The Jago Courtyard and classrooms are located in the Valley Wing. A short distance from the Western campus is the Huron dining hall. 

 

Chapel: The Chapel of St. John the Evangelist, a collegiate-style building constructed in Huron in the 1950s to replace an earlier chapel, is also located there. There are 160 seats in the chapel, which also boasts a Casavant organ. Numerous Orthodox icons are also present, notably a hand-painted Russian icon of the Holy Trinity from the 19th century. All denominations of students are welcome in the chapel.

 

Silcox Memorial Library: The administration wing of the Huron campus's main floor houses the university’s library. There are more than 1,65,000 books in the library's collection. There are 20 PC workstations and wireless Internet access at the Kimel Family Information Commons. In addition to individual study carrels, there are also cozy reading nooks and private group study spaces. The Huron Library lends out materials to qualifying guest borrowers as well as to all enrolled Huron and Western students, teachers, and staff members.

Admission

Huron University College Entry Requirements

Students must start by submitting an application via the Ontario Universities Application Centre (OUAC) or the university website. Any additional forms pertaining to scholarships or bursaries must be completed by students. The OUAC 105 form can be used by students to locate Huron at Western University. CAD 50 application fee must be paid using a credit card. There is no other form of payment allowed, and there is no refund for the fee.
