Overview

About

Glendon College is a bilingual liberal arts college located on the campus of York University in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is one of the three colleges at York University and was established in 1966. It is one of Canada's leading undergraduate institutions for the study of foreign languages, cultures, and societies. Located in the heart of Toronto, the college is surrounded by Victorian homes and the University of Toronto's St. George Campus. With its small student body, students build strong bonds with their peers. Furthermore, Glendon’s campus features beautiful landscaping that allows students to enjoy outdoor activities throughout the year.

Glendon’s vision is to be a leading international centre for academic excellence and intercultural understanding.  The college has over 2500 students enrolled, and because its staff and students hail from more than 130 nations and speak more than 40 languages at home, the college takes care to recognize the value of an education that is oriented toward the world. Open to all students regardless of nationality or language background, Glendon's bilingual nature helps prepare students for an increasingly interconnected global society where fluency in at least two languages is essential.

Students can choose their subjects from over 60 programmes that range from languages to politics to business studies. Glendon also offers students the unique opportunity to take part in exchange programs with other schools around the world – including Oxford and Cambridge universities. Students who have completed their first year at Glendon are eligible to apply directly to second-year university courses at York or Ryerson universities through the Faculty Transfer Program.

With an acceptance rate of 69%, all students at Glendon have an opportunity to participate in a unique cooperative education program that allows them to gain practical work experience representing many different fields of study. This experience makes it possible for students to apply their theoretical knowledge gained through academic courses while learning valuable skills and enhancing their resumes. Students also get the opportunity to study with internationally renowned faculty members who are well-known experts in their fields and have earned international recognition for their research and teaching accomplishments. The college also has been recognized as such by various publications including the Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, Macleans Magazine, and University Affairs.

Finances

Most international students are obligated to show proof of sufficient funds in order to obtain a visa. While some students may have the opportunity to make use of scholarships, not all students cut the eligibility to get a scholarship or a grant. Moreover, not all scholarships cover 100% of your study abroad expenses. At such times, most students resort to acquiring education loans to avoid the financial hassles associated with studying at the university. For Indian students, UniCreds is the ideal education loan marketplace if you’re looking for low-interest rates and free consultation services!
