Program Overview

Examine environmental health risks facing the modern world and develop the ability to manage these complex public health challenges.

This one year interdisciplinary program will deepen your knowledge of environmental health risks and develop your skills to create viable solutions. Population growth, globalisation, and climate change are among the world’s most challenging issues of our time, and our governments, industry and communities are under pressure to adapt and apply sustainable solutions.

Our Environmental Health Sciences programs will equip you with the knowledge and skills to identify and resolve complex environmental health risks and you'll learn to confidently communicate the risks and mitigation options to a range of stakeholders across all sectors.

You'll gain the skills to influence, advocate for and manage effective public health responses. During the program, you'll complete advanced-level courses that cover key areas of environmental health risk assessment and communication. A range of elective courses are also available, which provide the opportunity to develop your own specialist knowledge.

You'll graduate with a respected qualification, or you can use your graduate diploma to further your postgraduate studies. Because these courses are taken from the Master of Environmental Health Sciences, you may be eligible to receive credit for your studies.

These are some recommended examples of electives that MEnvHltSci students may enrol in, if they have the required pre-requisite knowledge. NOTE: as students in the MEnvHltSci may be coming from diverse backgrounds, some examples may require specific backgrounds or prior learning to be completed, however these are noted below. If no pre-requisite is noted, the course is open to all MEnvHltSci students. Other 7000 level courses not listed here can be selected subject to the approval of the Program Convenor and Course Coordinators. Any alternate electives selected must have relevance to Environmental Health. GCEnvHlthSc and GDipEnvHlthSc students may also select any of the courses listed in Part B (Core) or Part A3 (Core; refer to MEnvHltSci course list) as a Part C elective course.

1. Exit awards

A student may apply to withdraw from the program and be awarded a lower qualification taken as part of the Environmental Health Sciences postgraduate coursework suite if the relevant requirements have been completed:
- Graduate Certificate in Environmental Health Sciences
Entry Requirement
To be eligible for entry, you'll need:

An approved degree; or

A Graduate Certificate of Environmental Health Sciences from this university (or equivalent).

A degree in one of the following disciplines would normally meet the 'approved degree' requirement:
- Nursing

The minimum GPA to be considered for admission into this program is 4.0.

- TOEFL PB - Overall 570, listening 54, reading 54, writing 59/5.
- Pearsons - Overall Score of 64 and 60 in all sub bands.
- BE - A minimum overall grade of 4 plus a minimum grade of C in all macro skills.
- CES - Overall 176 and 169 in all sub bands.
OET is not accepted.
