Graduate Diploma in Economic Analysis

To qualify for the award of the Graduate Diploma in Economic Analysis, you will complete 48 credit points, including:

• 24 credit points of core units of study; and
• a minimum of 12 credit points of selective units of study; and
• a maximum of 12 credit points of elective units of study.
   

​​​​​​​Under normal progression, a full-time student completes prescribed units of study to the value of 24 credit points per semester. Part-time students may undertake prescribed units of study up to the value of 12 credit points per semester. You are required to attend all lectures, tutorials and other activities prescribed for your units of study.

Admission to candidature for the Graduate Diploma in Economic Analysis requires:

• a bachelor's degree from the University of Sydney, including a major in Economics with a minimum distinction (75%) average, or an equivalent qualification; or
• completion of the requirements of the embedded Graduate Certificate in Economic Analysis with a minimum distinction (75%), or an equivalent qualification.
   

You can progress from the Graduate Certificate to a Graduate Diploma or Masters, or from a Graduate Diploma to Masters in the same subject area, after successful completion of the shorter course with a minimum distinction (75%) average mark.

Tuition Fee for International Students (Year 1): $54,000 (indicative only)
 

For international students, the tuition fee is for Year 1 of full-time study of 48 credit points (1.0 EFTSL). However, for courses that require completion of less than 48 credit points (Sydney Professional Certificates, Graduate Certificates and some Graduate Diplomas which are less than 48 credit points), the fees indicated are based on the total credit points required for completion of that course as listed in the 'Course details' section.

The tuition fee that you will pay depends on the calendar year in which you undertake your study in the course, and your study load.
This indicative tuition fee is subject to annual increase each year of your study, effective at the start of each calendar year.

The Graduate Diploma in Economic Analysis will prepare you for a highly skilled economic job at institutions such as the Reserve Bank of Australia, the Productivity Commission, the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority and the Australian Securities Exchange.

You can progress to the Master of Economic Analysis after completing the Graduate Diploma with a minimum distinction (75%) average mark.
