Master of Teaching (Secondary Studies)

You will complete 130 units of core courses, including 40 units of courses which focus on your area of teaching specialisation, and 30 units of electives. In the core courses you will examine concepts and theories in the following learning areas:
 

• Educational philosophy, psychology, and sociology;
• language as a social practice;
• the principles and practice of teaching, including an emphasis on pedagogy and assessment; and
• the integration of new technologies into the curriculum.

Admission Requirements

Admission to the program is available to International students only and requires:
 

• the successful completion of a qualification equivalent to a completed Bachelor degree, with at least one year of full-time equivalent studies relevant to one or more areas of the secondary school curriculum in their own state, country or territory or the country in which they intend to teach, and
• a written piece of work

All Applicants must have an English Language proficiency equivalent to an IELTS Overall Score of 6.5, with a Section Minimum in all areas of 6.5.

Admission to this program is restricted to applicants from countries where there is no reciprocal accreditation with the New South Wales Education Standards Authority (NESA).

Prior to admission to the program, applicant’s must verify their eligibility to undertake placement with the relevant education authority and be qualified to teach in their chosen state, country or territory.

AUD 34,870 (indicative annual fee)
Indicative annual fees are based on a full year full time load (80 units).

At the completion of your Master of Teaching (Secondary Studies) degree you will be equipped with the appropriate theoretical and practical skills and knowledge to flourish as a successful secondary school teacher. You will enter the education system in your home country as a capable and professional individual with a well-developed sense of professional ethics.

You will be prepared to begin your career teaching students from Year 7 - 12 and have the opportunity to embark on some of the following career pathways:
 

• Classroom Teacher;
• School Executive and Principal;
• Home School Liaison Officer;
• School Counsellor;
• Teacher Librarian; and
• Learning Assistance Support Teacher.
