Entry requirements for the Master of Teaching (Early Childhood)
 

• An undergraduate (Bachelor) degree in any discipline from an approved institution; and

• Completion of the Teacher Capability Assessment Tool (TCAT) prior to applying. TCAT results are assessed as part of your application.

• Meeting these requirements does not guarantee selection.
   

PROGRESSION REQUIREMENT
 

The Commonwealth Government of Australia now requires all students undertaking initial teacher education courses in Australia to pass a literacy and numeracy test. The test is not an entry requirement into this course.
 

SELECTION
 

In ranking applications, the Selection Committee will consider:
 

• prior academic performance; and

• the results of the TCAT.

To work in Australian early childhood education and care settings with children aged birth to eight years, graduates can apply for provisional registration with Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA). They are also eligible to apply for provisional registration as an early childhood teacher with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).
