Year 2

Option

Choose six subjects from the following:
 

• Multilingual Practices in Global Times

• Content and Language Integrated Pedagogy

• Curriculum Design in a Multilingual Era

• Linguistics and Sociolinguistics of CLIL

• Grammar for Language Teachers

• Second Language Teaching Methodology

• Second Language Acquisition and Teaching

• Supervised Observation (Second Language)

• A three-year undergraduate degree or equivalent in any discipline area; and
• A major in a language other than English, or provide a statement of equivalence

Meeting these requirements does not guarantee selection. In ranking applications, the Selection Committee will consider prior academic performance.

Students who are eligible for Victorian Institute of Teaching registration but seek additional recognition as an accredited Language teacher, must complete the Language Teaching specialisation. This includes four specialist core subjects, two research capstones and two electives. Specialisation students must also complete 22 days of placement at a school or similar setting during school hours.

With the Masters of Modern Languages Education, you can supplement or advance your existing qualifications so you can take on more responsibility in your current teaching role.

Depending on your studies, you may be able to teach one or more languages other than English. You'll also graduate with the skills to manage a curriculum that's culturally and linguistically appropriate to language programs and resources.
