STUDY STRUCTURE
The Master of Applied Positive Psychology requires the completion of 100 points of study and can be completed full-time for 1 year, or part-time over 2 years. We offer two intakes:
- Start-year (February) intake for the face to face version
- Mid-year (July) intake for the online version.
- Subjects
- 6 core subjects (each worth 12.5 points), along with a capstone project (worth 25 points)
Students must complete Principles of Positive Psychology subject in their first semester and can only undertake the Capstone in Positive Psychology subject after completing 50 points.
You will explore the following themes:
Principles of Positive Psychology
This subject introduces the science of positive psychology. Students will explore the impetus behind the development of positive psychology including the concepts of wellbeing and flourishing, as well as the theories and frameworks underpinning it.
Applications of Positive Psychology
This subject will examine the full range of positive interventions that can be delivered to individuals, groups and communities using face to face, on-line, coaching/counselling, smartphone applications and group formats.
Systems-Informed Approaches to Change
Supporting an integrative, inter-disciplinary approach to wellbeing, this subject explores systems informed approaches to positive development and functioning, moving discourse, theory, research, and practice beyond the individual to include broader human social systems.
Positive Psychology and Organisations
This subject explores the application of the positive psychology perspective within organisations, including government, for-profit, not-for-profit, and educational settings. Drawing on a range of disciplines, including organisational behaviour, management, leadership development, students examine micro and macro approaches to organisational science.
Critical Review of Wellbeing Science
This subject critically examines approaches to, criticisms of, and advances in interdisciplinary wellbeing-related research. With an eye towards the future, students are introduced to innovations in the field by leading practitioners and scholars, with collective consideration of implications for research and practice.
Wellbeing Design, Delivery and Evaluation
This subject examines the design, delivery, and evaluation of positive interventions and approaches to fostering wellbeing and other positive outcomes across a range of contexts, such as at home, in the workplace, and in the local community.
Capstone in Positive Psychology
The course will culminate with the capstone subject, which draws on theory, knowledge and skills gained throughout the course. Students will complete a research project of their choosing, which involves designing an intervention or study, grounded in the science of positive psychology, wellbeing or related disciplines.
