Program Overview

The Master of Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Newcastle focuses on health care research. You will learn how to conceptualise, design and carry out health care research applying epidemiologic methods, and to apply the best available research evidence to clinical practices and health care.

In addition, you will develop an advanced understanding and practical application of the theoretical frameworks, effectively preparing you for a career in clinical epidemiology or evidence-based healthcare.

  • Minimum of a four year undergraduate degree in a related field such as biomedical science, applied science, nursing, medicine, pharmacy, allied health, psychology, sociology and social/behavioural science.
  • Applicants with a three year undergraduate degree should possess an Honours degree or additional postgraduate qualifications such as a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma; or a minimum of one year's work experience in a related field.
  • Up to 40 units of RPL may be awarded to students who have higher qualifications and/or related work experience.
  • Applications who do not satisfy these minimum admission criteria may complete the Graduate Certificate in Clinical Epidemiology [11684].


Minimum English Language Proficiency Requirements
 

  • All Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the University’s English proficiency requirement.
  • Applicants for this program must satisfy a minimum English Language Proficiency Standard equivalent to an IELTS overall minimum of 6.5 with no subtest result below 6.0.

Indicative annual fees are based on a full year full time load (80 units).
