The University of New England was first established in 1938 as New England University College, and it became an independent university in 1954. The university, which now has about 22,300 students pursuing higher education, was the first university in Australia to be founded outside of a state capital city, with its main campus situated in the city of Armidale in northern central New South Wales. The university offers rolling admissions, primarily for the Fall and Spring semesters. A non-refundable application fee of 40 AUD must be paid by interested candidates in order to apply directly to the university for any courses.
