Program Overview

The Undergraduate Qualifying Program (UQP) prepares international students for undergraduate study in business, tourism and hospitality, and information technology. It assists students to develop the skills necessary for success at the undergraduate level.

The course combines English language and academic skills development with academic, content-based studies. It is designed for international students whose academic qualifications and/or English proficiency levels are slightly below Southern Cross University’s entry requirements for undergraduate degrees.

Course Content

Core units
Students must successfully complete two (2) core units and one (1) elective unit .
	ENGL1002	English for Academic Purposes	Note 1
Select one (1) unit from the following:
	EDUC1001	Language and Learning in your Discipline
	MATH1003	Quantitative Methods with Economics

Entry Requirement
Be a minimum of 18 years old at the start of the program. Have completed High-School with an ATAR (or equivalent) which is recognised as having successfully completed an Australian Year 11.

Applicants for admission to candidature to the Undergraduate Qualifying Program must have an assessable entry qualification from a country where English is the main language and where the medium of instruction for that qualification was English; or, for all Undergraduate Qualifying streams, have completed an International English Language Test (or comparable test scores*) with:
- a minimum overall score of 5.5 and a minimum score of 5.0 in each subtest (or comparable test scores*) for 15 weeks English for Academic Purposes ENG10002 concurrent with academic units

English language requirements apply to International applicants and other applicants whose previous study was undertaken in a language other than English. The minimum English language requirements for such applicants for entry to this course are as follows
