The course is structured in three parts: Part A. Foundations for advanced information technology studies, Part B. Core master's study, and Part C. Advanced practice.

PART A. Foundations for advanced information technology studies
These studies will provide an orientation to the field of information technology at graduate level. They are intended for students whose previous qualification is not in a cognate field.

PART B. Core Master's study
These studies draw on best practices within the broad realm of IT application, theory and practice. You will gain an understanding of information technology real world IT problems and gain problem solving skills. Your study will focus on IT project management, software, network and systems areas.

PART C. Advanced practice
The focus of these studies is professional or scholarly work that can contribute to a portfolio of professional development.

You have two options:
 

  • a research pathway including a thesis. If you wish to use this master's course as a pathway to a higher degree by research you should take this first option.
  • a program of coursework involving advanced study and an industry experience studio project

Minimum Entry Requirements (International students)

Qualifications
 

  • Entry level 1:
    Duration: 2 years full-time
    An Australian bachelor degree not necessarily in IT, with at least a 60% average, or equivalent qualification approved by the faculty.
  • Entry level 2:
    Duration: 1.5 years full-time
    An Australian bachelor degree in a cognate discipline or major in IT including computing, computer science or a technical information technology field, with completed studies in programming, databases, computer architecture, algorithms and data structures, data communications and system analysis and design, with at least a 60% average, or equivalent qualification approved by the faculty.


English entry requirements

Level A
 

  • IELTS (Academic): 6.5 Overall score, with minimum band scores: Listening 6.0, Reading 6.0, Writing 6.0 and Speaking 6.0  
  • Pearson Test of English (Academic): 58 Overall score, with minimum scores: Listening 50, Reading 50, Speaking 50 and Writing 50    
  • TOEFL Internet-based test: 79 Overall score, with minimum scores: Reading 13, Listening 12, Speaking 18 and Writing 21

Fees are subject to change annually.

International fee
 

  • Fees are per 48 credit points which represents a standard full-time course load for a year.
