Program Overview

In this degree, you will develop the skills needed to work as an occupational therapist to deliver life changing outcomes. You will learn how to enable people to do the activities - occupations - they need or want to do in order to live a meaningful life, but have difficulty with due to illness, injury or other disadvantages.
 

You will study occupational therapy theory and practice, occupational science, and other sciences such as psychology, sociology and anatomy. With practical placements, starting in first year, you will apply the skills and knowledge to real life situations preparing you for the wide range of opportunities available to occupational therapists.

Prerequisites: English, English as an Additional Language, Literature or English & Literature Extension (Units 3&4, C); One of Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Psychology (Units 3&4, C).
 

English language requirements apply to applicants whose previous study was undertaken in a language other than English. The minimum English language requirements for such applicants for entry to this program are as follows:
 

  • A minimum overall band score of 7.0 on IELTS (Academic) with no sub-score of less than 7.0
  • OR an internet-based (iBT) TOEFL score of 94 with the following minimum scores in each section of the test:
    • 24 for listening | 24 for reading | 27 for writing | 23 for speaking
  • OR a minimum overall score of 65 in the Pearson Test of English (Academic) with a minimum score of 65 in each of the four communicative skills (listening, reading, writing and speaking)
  • OR the Occupational English Test (OET) with a minimum score of B in each of the four components (listening, reading, writing and speaking).
     

English test results must be no more than two years old.

Indicative annual tuition fee  - AUD $35,500

The indicative annual tuition fee is calculated based on a standard full-time study load which is usually 80 credit points (two full-time trimesters).

You will be prepared for a career in a variety of workplaces, including in hospitals, homeless shelters, refugee detention centres, universities, and government departments. You will be able to work with individuals, groups and communities in social enterprises, charities, large companies, schools and prisons.
