Master of Engineering Project Management Advanced

Students must complete the following 40 credit points for List A courses:

• Project Management Practice - 7014ENG
• Research Methods for Engineers - 7001ENG (see Note 1)

Students must complete the following 80 credit points of List B courses:

• Project Evaluation and Control - 7202ENG
• Quality and Performance Management - 7206ENG
• Engineering Communication and Leadership - 7002ENG (online in Tri 2 from 2017)
• Environmental Management Systems - 7407ENG (see Note 1)
• Resource Planning and Management - 7203ENG
• Risk Analysis and Management - 7204ENG
• Advanced Topics in Engineering Management - 7207ENG

To be eligible for admission to Master of Engineering Project Management Advanced, a student must hold:
 

• a Bachelor degree in Engineering or equivalent three year or four year Engineering undergraduate degree from a recognised university (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing)
• OR a Bachelor Honours degree in Engineering or equivalent four year Engineering undergraduate degree from a recognised university (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing)
• OR a Graduate Certificate in Engineering Project Management.
   

Students admitted to the program with a Bachelor Honours degree in Engineering or equivalent four year Engineering undergraduate degree or a Graduate Certificate in Engineering Project Management will be eligible for 40 credit points of advanced standing towards the program. The following degrees are considered to be equivalent to a Bachelor Honours degree in Engineering:
 

• four year Engineering undergraduate degree that includes a significant final year research project component (one semester thesis) from an Australian university;
• four year Engineering undergraduate degree that includes a significant final year research project component (one semester thesis) from a NOOSR Section 1 University.

International students

An International student is one who is not:

• an Australian or New Zealand citizen or
• a person who has Australian permanent resident status.

Project managers have a wide range of career opportunities in the building, construction, infrastructure, manufacturing, and mining industries. They manage projects for a variety of public and private sector clients.
 

Given the current shortage of project management engineering graduates and experienced project managers coupled with the huge investment in infrastructure projects internationally, this degree will enable recently qualified engineering graduates to improve their specialist technical skills.
