The Program Director will take the following into consideration when assessing applications for admission:
 

• the suitability of the proposed dissertation topic; and
• the resources available to support the candidature including availability of appropriate supervision.

Students who have completed Years 1 and 2 of the Bachelor of Social Work or Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent program are eligible to apply for admission to this program. Students will undertake the 30 credit point dissertation in Years 3 and 4 as determined by the Program Director and subject to the following criteria:
 

• completion of Years 1 and 2 of the Bachelor of Social Work or Bachelor of Social Work  or equivalent program;
• achievement of a GPA of at least 5.5 for the second year core courses in the Bachelor of Social Work or Bachelor of Social Work (1282); and
• achievement of a grade of at least 5.0 in  Human Services Research or equivalent research course.

Tuition fee
$29,500 (80 CP)

The indicative annual tuition fee is calculated based on a standard full-time study load which is usually 80 credit points (two full-time trimesters). The indicative annual tuition fee is based on current conditions and available data and should only be used as a guide. These fees are reviewed annually and are subject to change.

This program prepares you for a wide range of social work roles including working with individuals, groups and families; community work; advocacy, research, planning and policy development; and management and administration. You could also work in child protection, youth work, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander services, child and family welfare, youth and adult offending, hospital and community health settings, employment and income support and aged care.
