About

Flinders University is a public research university with its headquarters in Adelaide and it has 11 sites spread across South Australia and the Northern Territory. It was established in 1966 and was given the name Flinders in honour of British sailor Matthew Flinders, who in the early 19th century explored and mapped the Australian and South Australian coastline.

 

Flinders University’s acceptance rate ranges from 65% - 70% with around 26,140 students enrolled at the university out of which 21,040 students are Australian and 5,100 are international students. There are more than 500 programmes available at the university, including undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degree programmes. There are programmes available in 19 different subject areas, some of which include business, fine arts, education, engineering, the environment, health sciences, law, social sciences, psychology, etc. There are six academic colleges and schools at the university, including those for business, government, and law; education; psychology; and social work. There are also schools for humanities, arts, and social sciences; medicine; and nursing and health sciences; as well as science and engineering. It belongs to the IRU Group of Innovative Research Universities. The institution was a leader in the development of a multidisciplinary approach to education, and its faculties of medicine and the humanities have been recognised as two of the top 10 in the country. The university was one of four recipients globally for the inaugural 2023 QS Recognition of Internationalisation awards, given by the Quacquarelli Symonds rating organisation. According to the 2021 Graduate Outcome Survey - Longitudinal, published by the Australian Government's Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching, Flinders leads the country in postgraduate employment outcomes.

Flinders University Entry Requirements

Every year, Flinders Uni provides two admissions periods in the months of February and July. At the mid-year intake, just a few programmes are available, whereas all programmes are available for the February intake.
