Atlanta, Georgia is home to Georgia State University, a public university that was established in 1913. At the Atlanta campus, there are more than 250 programmes available in 100 different subject areas. Twelve colleges and schools are available for minor and major options for students. International students at the university have the option of pursuing dual undergraduate and graduate degrees or creating their own major through the bachelor of interdisciplinary studies programme. The Georgia Institute of Technology (also known as Georgia Tech) is a public research university and institute of technology located in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1885, the Georgia School of Technology was established to develop an industrial economy in the Southern United States following the American Civil War. It initially exclusively offered a mechanical engineering degree. In 1901, electrical, civil and chemical engineering were introduced, which are now part of its curriculum. The school's name was changed in 1948 to reflect its transformation from a trade school to a larger and more qualified research university and technical institute. 

There are around 40,000 students from 50 states and 149 countries studying with about 14,000 employees working at Georgia Tech. It is a member of the University System of Georgia and has satellite campuses in Savannah, Georgia, Metz, France, Shenzhen, China and Singapore. AT&T, The Coca-Cola Company and The Bank of America’s corporate headquarters stand out among the campus' towers, although there aren't many buildings taller than four floors and there is a lot of greenery around the university. Due to this, it has a beautiful suburban feel that sets it apart from other Atlanta schools like Georgia State University. The campus is divided into four primary campuses: Technology Square, East Campus, Central Campus and West Campus. Student housing complexes are predominantly located on the East and West campuses, while teaching and research facilities are located on the Central Campus. Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) is a private, non-profit medical school located in Atlanta, Georgia. It was founded in 1975 as a part of Morehouse College, a historically black liberal arts college for men. Today, MSM is an independent institution that is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and the Liaison Committee on Medical Education.

The medical programme at MSM offers a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree, with a curriculum that emphasizes community health and primary care.
