Scholarship Overview

The University of York invites applications for the University of York The Laidlaw Scholarship 2021 from undergraduate students. This scholarship offers an opportunity for the students to undertake a unique research project and an innovative and accredited leadership development program. Lord Laidlaw of Rothiemay is sponsoring this scholarship. A high-quality leadership program will be offered to the selected scholars for over 18 months alongside a Chartered Management Institute qualification at Level 5, a highly desirable qualification for future employers and other benefits.

Selection Criteria

Applicants will be shortlisted for the interview based on the eligibility criteria decided by the selection committee. The final selections will be made on the basis of interview.

  • There are no restrictions on discipline, division, nationality or fee status.
  • This scholarship is available for students of all nationalities.
  • The research project should be closely linked to the research themes of the University.
  • An interview call does not ensure the selection of a candidate for the program.

Eligibility

To be eligible, an applicant must:

  • Be a University of York undergraduate student
  • Be in his/her first year of a three-year degree or in the first or second year of a four-year degree
  • Be available to undertake a funded research project during the Summer of 2020 and the Leadership in Action project during the summer of 2021
