Susan R. Meisinger Fellowship For Graduate Study in HR is a unique scholarship opportunity for students interested in pursuing a career in HR. This scholarship is jointly sponsored by SHRM and the SHRM Foundation. This main aim of this scholarship is to support master’s degree students who are either members of SHRM or certified HR professionals. This scholarship is open to Master’s students from all over the world.

Shortlisting Process

Preference will be given to following candidates:

• Demonstrated leadership in HR and the potential to be a future HR leader.
• Work and leadership experience and goals.
• Community involvement.
• Undergraduate achievements.

Terms and Conditions

The continuation of the scholarship depends on the good academic performance of the scholars in the examinations conducted by their respective universities.

Renewal cases of stipend holders who are not promoted to the next year will not be considered for further renewal.

• A minimum of three years experience in HR, and a minimum of five years of total professional work experience (including HR experience).
• Applicants must meet at least one of the following criteria:
  • SHRM member OR
  • Holds SHRM Certification (SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP).
• Applicants must possess an undergraduate degree with an overall GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in the undergraduate program and 3.5 on a 4.0 scale in a graduate program (if enrolled).
• The applicant must have at least 50% of the degree requirements remaining. The degree program is HR-related (e.g. psychology, organizational development, MBA).
• The applicant should have been accepted or enrolled in a degree-seeking Master’s program at an accredited university. Universities in the United States must be regionally accredited; universities outside of the United States must be accredited by an accrediting body widely recognized within the country or by the government body that oversees higher education within the country.
• To accept the fellowship, recipients must commit to working in the HR field for a minimum of one year for every year of funding received. They must maintain their HR certification and/or SHRM membership during the fellowship. They must maintain a 3.5 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and university enrollment in their original degree program to be eligible for the second year of funding.
• Applicants should not have received another Master’s degree in an HR-related programme.

• LORs- Two or three letters of reference. Reference letters can be addressed to the "SHRM Foundation Scholarship Review Committee" and should provide insight into your character, career and volunteer accomplishments, work ethic, values, and need for the scholarship. Letters may be written by colleagues, coaches, professors, volunteer colleagues, but cannot come from family members.
• Copy of acceptance letter to the Master’s degree program (if not currently enrolled).
• Undergraduate college transcript and graduate transcript-if already enrolled (official or unofficial).
• Current resume or CV.
• Questions about work experience and career aspirations.
