Scholarship Overview

The A.S. Mowat Prize Scholarship is awarded by Dalhousie University. This scholarship fund was created with gifts from numerous donors and contributions from alumni and staff who worked and studied under Professor Mowat. The purpose of The A.S. Mowat Prize is to perpetuate the memory of Alexander S. Mowat who, as O.E. Smith Professor of Education, served for thirty years (1939-1969) as chairman of the Department of Education at Dalhousie University, and to commemorate Professor Mowat's contribution to education in Nova Scotia. This scholarship is applicable to all Graduate Courses at Dalhousie University in Canada.

Shortlisting Process

The selection of scholars for the A.S. Mowat Prize Scholarship involves a multi-stage process. The scholars will be selected after a thorough assessment of all the applicants. 

Terms and Conditions

The continuation of the scholarship depends on the good academic performance of the scholars in the examinations conducted by their respective universities.

Renewal cases of stipend holders who are not promoted to the next year will not be considered for further renewal.

 

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be full time and registered in the current term in order to apply for or receive the Prize.
  • First-year Master’s student with a first-class average .
