Scholarship Overview

The Major Entrance Scholarships- Bachelor is offered by McGill's Scholarships and Student Aid Office to academically excellent students entering in a Full-time undergraduate degree. The scholarship is applicable to all undergraduate degree programmes. 

Shortlisting Process

The selection of scholars for the Major Entrance Scholarships- Bachelor involves a multi-stage process. The scholars will be selected after a thorough assessment of all the applicants. 

Terms and Conditions

The continuation of the scholarship depends on the good academic performance of the scholars in the examinations conducted by their respective universities.

Renewal cases of stipend holders who are not promoted to the next year will not be considered for further renewal.

 

  

 

Eligibility

  • Applicants must get a minimum overall average of 60% in each year in Xth, XIth and XIIth as well as in all prerequisite subjects
  • Prerequisites: 
    • For B.Eng. in Mechanical engineering/Chemical Engineering/Civil engineering/Computer Engineering/Electrical Engineering:- Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics in Class 11 and 12 (Biology cannot be used as a prerequisite)
    • For B.Sc. Honours in Computer Science/BSc in Agricultural and Environmental Sciences:- Mathematics, and two of biology, chemistry or physics in Class 11 and 12
    • B.Com with Major in Marketing:- Mathematics in Class 11 and 12; business mathematics is acceptable
  • IB Diploma: 41 subject points (not including bonus points) on predicted or final grades
  • English Language Proof:
    • IELTS: 6.5 with a minimum 6.0 in each component
    • TOEFL: 90 with a minimum score of 21 in each component
    • PTE: 65 with Individual component scores of 60 or better
  • Must show academic achievement and outstanding leadership in school or community activities
  • An interview may be conducted of finalist candidates

Application Documents

  • Two letters of reference: One academic and one activity-related letter of reference. Letters should be typed on letterhead stationery, duly signed, and converted to PDF, then submitted directly by the referees to scholarships@mcgill.ca.
  • Ranking/Signed statement: A signed statement from the school indicating the size of class and student's class rank, if the school provides such information. All documents should be provided on the school letterhead.
