Harvard Kennedy School's Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy invites applications for The Joan Shorenstein Fellowship 2021 from journalists, scholars, politicians, and policymakers. The aim of this fellowship is to advance research in the field of media, politics and public policy; facilitate a dialogue among journalists, scholars, policymakers, and students; and provide an opportunity for reflection. Selected fellows will receive a stipend of USD 30,000; workstation and paid research assistant.

Eligibility

To be eligible, an applicant must:

  • Be journalist from local, national and international TV, radio, print, and digital media; media and civic technology innovator; non-fiction author; political advisor and policymaker; leading academic scholar in fields such as media research and political science; and policy analyst
  • Be a working journalist, politician, scholar or policymaker currently or recently active in the field
  • Not have participated in another fellowship within the two years prior to their preferred semester
  • Be fluent in English – listening, reading, writing and speaking
