Scholarship Overview

The United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF) invites applications for Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program 2021-22 from full-time senior secondary school teachers in India. The Teaching Excellence and Achievement (TEA) program is a 6-week non-degree, non-credit academic program that will take place at a US university. The selected participants will travel to the United States for the program that will be beneficial for their professional development and will receive multiple benefits.

Benefits

The teachers selected for the 6-week program will receive the following benefits:

  • J-1 visa support
  • A pre-departure orientation held in the participant’s home country
  • Round-trip airfare to and within the US
  • Academic program fees
  • Housing (generally shared with other program fellows) and meals
  • Accident and sickness medical insurance coverage (does not cover pre-existing conditions)
  • Transportation to the practicum school (if necessary)
  • A daily allowance for incidentals during the university academic program
  • A baggage allowance
  • An end-of-program workshop in Washington, D.C.
  • The opportunity to apply for alumni small grants for alumni in good standing

Eligibility

To be eligible for this program, an applicant must:

  • Be a full-time senior secondary teacher (Class 6 to 12) in a school serving a primarily local population
  • Have completed at least 5 years of full-time teaching in the Fulbright TEA teaching disciplines-
    • English
    • English as a foreign language (EFL)
    • Social studies
    • Mathematics
    • Science
    • Special education
  • Live and teach in the following states- Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Lakshadweep and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Daman and Diu, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli
  • Hold a Bachelor's degree
  • Be a citizen and resident of India
  • Be present in India at the time of application and for interview
  • Obtain a minimum score of 450 in TOEFL or 61 in iBT TOEFL or equivalent English language examination
