Once your IELTS exam is complete, you can access your results through several channels: online portal, SMS, email, or directly from the test centre. Your score will show individual band scores for Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking and a combined overall band score.
To view your IELTS results online, follow these simple steps:
Once your IELTS results are released, you will receive a notification directly to your registered email address. Regularly check your inbox and spam folder so you don’t miss any updates about your test scores.
You can receive your IELTS results via SMS by sending a message to 92898 92898 after 12:00 PM on the day results are announced. Include your Candidate Number and Passport Number in the text to get your score details.
You can collect your IELTS results in person at the test centre. Simply bring your ID or passport along with the candidate number provided on your test day. If you registered through the test centre, your results will not be shared via phone, email, or fax.
Your overall IELTS band score is calculated by averaging the scores from the four sections: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. Simply add these four band scores and divide the total by four.
If the average results in a decimal, IELTS uses a specific rounding rule:
Consider these two candidates to understand how the band score calculator works:
Section |
Candidate A |
Candidate B |
Listening Band Score |
7.5 |
5.0 |
Reading Band Score |
7.5 |
4.5 |
Writing Band Score |
6.0 |
5.0 |
Speaking Band Score |
8.0 |
5.0 |
Total Score (Sum) |
29.0 |
19.5 |
Average (Total ÷ 4) |
7.25 |
4.875 |
Final IELTS Band Score |
7.5 |
5.0 |
In this example, Candidate A’s average score of 7.25 rounds up to 7.5, while Candidate B’s 4.875 rounds up to 5.0 as per the IELTS rounding rules.
Both Academic and General Training versions of IELTS follow the same band score scale, which ranges from 0 to 9. Each band reflects a specific English proficiency level:

The delivery timeline of your Test Report Form depends on the test format:
Test Mode |
TRF Dispatch Timeline |
Computer-delivered IELTS |

Paper-based IELTS |

The TRF will be sent to the address you provided during registration via courier or speed post.
There are two main categories of IELTS TRFs:
Every candidate receives one personal TRF, which includes:

You have the option to request a re-evaluation through the Enquiry on Result (EoR) process, if you believe your IELTS score doesn’t reflect your performance. This applies to both IELTS Academic and General Training test takers.
EoR allows you to get one or more sections of your IELTS test re-marked. Whether it’s Listening, Reading, Writing, or Speaking, you can choose to re-evaluate a single section or all four, based on your preference.
You must submit your EoR request within 6 weeks (42 days) from your original test date.
The re-evaluation process typically takes 6 to 8 weeks. You’ll be notified once the outcome is finalised.
