About

Zayed University (ZU) is a public university and one of the three government-supported higher education institutions in the UAE. The Emirati federal government established Zayed University Dubai in 1998. The university enrols over 4,000 students each year, including international students from all over the world. Zayed University Dubai's acceptance rate stands at 35% with a student-staff ratio of 5:1. There are 35 undergraduate and graduate degree programmes available at ZU for students of all nationalities.

ZU Dubai became the first federal university in the UAE to be internationally accredited, after receiving accreditation from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education in the United States. Until 2008, the university only accepted UAE national women. However, with the establishment of the Sweihan campus (a partnership between Zayed University and the UAE Armed Forces) approximately 200 male students have been admitted.
