About

Situated in the city of Al Ain in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, Al Ain University is a modern-day private university established in 2004. The university aims to be the leading centre of excellence in education in the Arab region and was established under the guidance of the 1st President of the UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al-Nahyan. The university conducts its operations around the following five values; collaboration, diversity, excellence, respect, and integrity. 

 

The university comprises six colleges offering 17 Bachelor's degree programmes, 8 Master's degree programmes and one professional diploma course under a wide variety of disciplines. The six colleges are:

Al Ain is licensed by the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Education. Its programmes in Networks and Communication Engineering and Software Engineering under the College of Engineering are internationally accredited by ABET (Engineering Accreditation Commission). The Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy under the College of Pharmacy holds an international certification from the Accrediting Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). The College of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). The Bachelor of Law programme provided by the university’s College of Law holds an international accreditation from the Council for Evaluation, Research and Higher Education (HCERES). International certification is held by the College of Communication and Media from the Agency for Quality Assurance by Accreditation of study programmes (AQAS). 

 

The focal point of the university’s endeavours is research with several multidisciplinary research centres on campus. The university’s student population comprises a mix of Emirati students, GCC national students and international students. The university is known to be extremely welcoming to international students with about 40% of the university’s student crowd being international students. On average, the university is known to open its doors to students from around 60 countries from different parts of the globe. Al Ain University Entry Requirements

Like any university, there are certain eligibility criteria to get into Al Ain. While there are certain overarching entry requirements, accepted grade scores in one’s secondary school certifications and English language proficiency tests vary from course to course. Below mentioned are the Al Ain University entry requirements for the university’s different colleges. 

College of Engineering

  • Hold a secondary school certificate approved by the UAE Ministry of Education with an average score of not less than 80%.
  • Accepted English language proficiency test scores include emSAT, TOEFL and IELTS. 
  • Further requirements include Arabic emSAT scores, and Math & Physics emSAT scores. 

College of Pharmacy

  • A minimum average of 85% is required in a Secondary school certificate approved by the UAE Ministry of Education. 
  • TOEFL, IELTS and emSAT scores for the English language. 
  • Arabic emSAT, Math emSAT and any 2 out of Chemistry, Biology, and Physics emSAT scores are required. 

College of Law

  • A minimum 80% average for the Science track or 85% for the Art track is required for a secondary school certificate approved by the UAE Ministry of Education
  • TOEFL, IELTS and emSAT are the accepted English language proficiency tests. 
  • Arabic and Math emSAT scores are required. 

College of Education, Humanities and Social Sciences

  • A secondary school certificate approved by the UAE Ministry of Education with a minimum average of 75% in the Science track or 80% in the Arts track is required. 
  • emSAT, IELTS and TOEFL are the accepted English language proficiency tests.
  • Math and Arabic emSAT scores are required. 

College of Business

  • A minimum average score of 75% in the Arts track or 70% in the Science track is required for a Secondary school certificate approved by the UAE Ministry of Education. 
  • English language test requirements include TOEFL, IELTS or emSAT.
  • Math emSAT score is required. 

College of Communication and Media

  • A minimum average score of 60% in any track in a course approved by the country’s Ministry of Education. 
  • Arabic language proficiency test in emSAT is required. 
  • emSAT, TOEFL or IELTS are the English language proficiency test requirements. 

 

Al Ain University Fees

There are a variety of determinants of tuition fees for a university. The primary factor that determines the tuition fees is whether the applicant is a home or international student. The second and last determinant is what course they choose to study at university as the tuition fees vary from course to course. The Al Ain University fees comprise students having to pay a mandatory admission fee of 1500 AED regardless of what course they choose to study. The tuition fee depends upon the study plan for each student. Each credit hour under a particular course varies from 1,000 AED to 2,700 AED. Other fees include application to join and registration fees which are the same across all courses.
