Academic requirements for international students
 

To be accepted into this programme you will need:
 

  • A Bachelor's degree

  • To have completed 200- and 300-level courses worth at least 180 points from those listed for the BBmedSc

  • To have met the requirements for at least one major of the BBmedSc

  • To be accepted by the head of school as capable of proceeding with the proposed course of study

 

Proof of English proficiency
 

To be accepted into this programme you will need one of the following:
 

  • IELTS (Academic): minimum overall score of 6.5 with no sub-score below 6.0

  • TOEFL: minimum score of 90 for the internet-based test with a minimum of 20 in writing

  • Pearson Test of English: minimum score of 58 (with a ‘Communicative’ score of not less than 50)

  • EAP: minimum final scores of 4,4,5,5

  • C1 Advanced (Previously - Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE)) or C2 Proficiency (Previously – Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE)) with a score of 176 or higher, with each skill score no less than 169.

  • New Zealand Certificates in English Language (NZCEL): Level 5 (Academic)

  • NZAPA: English New Zealand Accredited Pathway Assessment Level 3 (with no skill lower than Level 2)

  • Advanced Topics in Clinical Research 2 (CLNR 414)


Include further courses worth 60 points from:

 

  • Genetics and Molecular Biology (BIOL 430)

  • Cell Biology (BIOL 431)

  • Physiology and Pharmacology (BIOL 432)

  • Research Skills in the Life Sciences (BIOL 435)

  • BMSC 401-449

  • Clinical Immunology (CLNR 410)

  • Advanced Topics in Clinical Research 1 (CLNR 413)

  • Advanced Topics in Clinical Research 2 (CLNR 414)

 

Important information
 

  • You may, with approval from the head of school, replace one or two courses from BMSC 403-406 with other 400-level science courses. Courses in chemistry or microbiology are particularly suitable.
