About

Dalhousie University (also known as Dal) is a large public research university in Nova Scotia, Canada, with three campuses in Halifax, one near Bible Hill, and another for the medical school in Saint John, New Brunswick. The university’s wide range of academic programs draws and keeps a varied group of exceptional students, scholars, researchers, and staff who collaborate with an interdisciplinary viewpoint and an emphasis on service. The 13 faculties advance knowledge via excellent instruction and a thirst for knowledge that generates $194 million in yearly research funding. 

 

The uni features campuses in the vibrant coastal city of Halifax and an Agricultural Campus in the hamlet of Truro on Canada's East Coast.  DU welcomes 21,000 students who come from the neighbourhood and more than 130 other nations. It is a coeducational university with over 150,000 alumni worldwide. The university's central location, Studley Campus in Halifax, is where the majority of its academic buildings, including faculties, gyms, and the Student Union Building, are located. Residential neighbourhoods generally encircle the university. It is separated from the nearby Carleton Campus, which is home to the faculties of medicine, dentistry, and other health profession departments, by Robie Street. The IWK Health Centre and the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre, two sizable teaching hospitals connected to the institution, are situated close to the campus. 

 

The two student organisations that represent students' interests at the institution are the Dalhousie Student Union and the Dalhousie Association for Graduate Students. Dalhousie University's varsity teams, the Tigers, compete in the Atlantic University Sport conference of Canadian Interuniversity Sport.
