The University of Canberra, founded in 1967, is an open university affiliated with the Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning and the New Generation Universities. Previously, the university was known as the Canberra College of Advanced Education. It was elevated to the level of a university in 1990. The university celebrates Stone Day, which is known to be a remark of its establishment. It is now known as Stonefest and is one of Australia's most popular music festivals which lasts for a week.
