Academic entry requirement

Prerequisites

Successful completion of an Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent).

Specialisation - compulsory: In a relevant discipline area for primary teaching as per the National Program Standards and the Victorian Institute of Teaching. For a primary focus these may include; Science, Mathematics, Arts (Visual Arts/Drama/Music/Dance/Media Studies), Humanities (Geography, History), Languages, Physical Education/Health, English, IT.

Selection criteria
 

• All applicants will complete the CASPer test to support selection into teaching programs. CASPer is a requirement for many of the initial teacher training courses in Victoria. It is a non-cognitive online test designed to assess an applicant's personal and professional attributes.

The cost of studying at La Trobe University varies largely depending on the type of university and the degree chosen. The Master of Teaching (Primary) is currently undergoing re-accreditation by the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT). Professional registration may require an application to the professional body and may have additional or ongoing requirements beyond the completion of the degree.
