Program Overview

The Master of Science in Civil Engineering is a 60-ECTS-credit postgraduate programme designed to equip engineers with specialised technical and practical skills to help the industry address increasingly complex civil engineering problems in a creative and sustainable way.

In line with SIT’s applied learning pedagogy, this programme focusses on structural and geotechnical engineering applications in urban environment settings. This is an important step to further your career and become a Professional Engineer and leader in your field. This programme is tailored to working professionals. Classes are conducted on weekday evenings.

The MSc in Civil Engineering programme has been granted provisional accreditation by the Engineering Accreditation Board in Feb 2020.

Course Content

Students are required to complete 60-ECTS-credits. These credits can come from either (i) 10 modules of coursework, or (ii) 8 modules of coursework plus a dissertation on an industrial research project. Only students with good academic standing are allowed to opt for the dissertation option. The modules currently offered are listed below.

Entry Requirement
Applicants must possess the following:
- Having the SIT-Glasgow University BEng in Civil Engineering degree or equivalent qualifications; and
- At least one year of post-bachelor working experience in a related field (including SIT's Integrated Work Study Programme).
